This is gonna be a long post full of pictures for the Island Quest 2005 just completed successfully yesterday and some more pics from the bash....There were 8 teams who participated in the game. I left house at 6am and took the MRT. I was surprised to see the MRT had no seats left. Everyone was either going to work on a Sunday early morning or coming home from 3rd shift. You know those factory hours they operate 24/7 a week. I seldom leave home so early in the morning one. When I reached City Hall, it was 6.35am. I waited 10 mins for Daphne. I already saw some people waiting at the station too. Think they were participants. Then I recognised one of them as Kelvin, the pageant contestant too. Priscilla was in his team too. Then Daphne and I walked to CityLink over to Esplanade. A few game masters were there already, two teams had also arrived there too. We waited for all the teams to arrive then the race officially started. Yunwei's team, Edits had to be disqualified due to two members were sick and they could not find any substitute. So even if they win, they will not win any prizes. They decided to play for the fun of it though I knew Yunwei was rather disappointed about it. The race started at slightly after 7.30am. After the teams started the race, the rest of us took a photo with the banner of Start point together with the words, "I Was Here" outside Esplanade.

Then Daphne, Yiyao, Yan Ling, Lydia and me went to SunTec McDonald's for breakfast. While walking along CityLink, we passed by this Thai Express and only Yan Ling and me saw the door of Thai Express open ajar and close back immediately. It was the sound of it opening that caught our attention. I was walking in front of her but I turned back. Yan Ling was just walking past then she happened to saw. She also said she heard people running up the escalators which may caused the door to jerk open but she turned and saw nobody running past her. She came and told us in the end. Seventh-month was just over yesterday so she was feeling quite scared. Then we went to the overhead bridge which links CityLink and Suntec, we suddenly heard a loud sound "Bang". This time, all of us heard it. But I told them I guess it may be because there was construction going on at Marina so maybe something fell off to the rooftop of our bridge we're on or something. Then Yiyao was joking about maybe some were late to go back or there are some wandering around still. Haha, he's trying to joke around.

We left Mac at about 10+. We sat there for about 2 hours. Then we went to walk around SunTec. We had wanted to go Comex but it was only opened at 12 noon. So we went to branded sales, Food Fair and then took a cab down to SIM to wait for Devin, Steph and Vivien will will pick us up to our station at Bukit Batok Reserve. While waiting for Devin and the others, the sky started turning dark. We had a bad feeling about it. A while later, Devin came to pick us up in his mini van and it started to rain. We will be stuck in the rain. We think this rain will last the whole day. So we stayed in the van till we see the first team to arrive. Yan Ling is the only one that brought umbrella. So we borrowed from Devin a small umbrella too. So the four of us (Lydia, Yiyao, Yan Ling and me) had to share two umbrellas. We saw Kenny's team, Bao Chia arrived and we alighted the van to climb up this long flight of hundred over steps carrying umbrellas to the top level. It was pouring heavily that time. Kenny and his team mates were running up the steep slope like hell. I saw them were drenched throughly too. That time, the rain was raining very heavily. And the task we gave them was to use only 5 feet, 1 head, 2 hands and 1 elbow touching the ground. The ground was damn wet anyway. The time we gave them to try out was 2 mins and then they gotta stay on for 20 seconds will they complete the task.

Ours was the 3rd station so they managed to complete the task and the clue to the next station was given and the next station was Sungei Buroh and many will think that it's at Jurong Bird Park. Before Bao Chia complete the task, Untitled team arrived too at almost the same time.

Then after the two teams left, we gotta report to Steph the time all the teams arrived and left so they could estimate the time they arrive to the next station. One group had already withdrew from the race cause one of the members sprained the leg and the other members did not want to continue. So left with 7 teams to challenge. Edits team was leading the first two stations, until the third clue given to our station, they went to the wrong location at Fort Canning which that was supposed to be our last checkpoint of the race. So they were lagging behind. Then we felf the rain was raining too heavily. Our bags were wet too as we left it on the bench under the rain. So we went back down the stairs and went to the only telephone booth for shelter. Then we started to feel bored and we took photos...

Then we waited more than half an hour before the next group, Prototypes arrived. At that time, the three of us gals are already sitting on the bench. We placed three foolscap paper on it. Three of us were sharing an umbrella while Yiyao was standing with another small umbrella. We were supposed let the teams do the task above the flight of stairs there but we really need a shelter badly so we just did at the bottom of the stairs there cause there was a bonus question for them which is to count how many stairs are there and they are supposed to count how many stairs are there actually. I heard this place used to be a Japanese Shrine here and this is also the place where Japanese surrendered to the Americans. I had thought it was either Fort Canning or Labrador Park.

We started taking photos again whilst waiting for the next team to come. We heard another team withdraw from the race again. They went home staright without even letting the organisers know...So left with 6 teams. This was the longest timne we waited before the next three teams arrive.


Three of us started taking photos again cause we were sitting down and didn't felt like getting up. There was no toilet around too. So we did not dare to drink much water. But I felt cold cause we were also caught in the rain though we had umbrellas. And I was wet from head to toe. Even my butt and underwear was wet. There was no dry spot I'm sure...I'm glad we had to wear the council tees otherwise I would be wearing sleeveless then I'll be freaking cold by then.
We bought chips and tidbits at Watson's earlier on so we started eating the potato chips as lunch.

We waited more than an hour before the next team, Comet arrives and Lydia was already not feeling well and she wanna go home to study for test on Tuesday so she left with them.




After this team, we waited a while before the next team, the all girls team arrive. Forgot what was their team name. But they were the first team who walked up the slope together in straight row so I decided to take a pic of them....

They were damn cute...The way they talked and stuffs...They thought the next clue given is at the top of the stairs and we refused to tell them the answer. So they went up the top of the flight of stairs and after few minutes came down to say there is nothing there...

After this team left a while, Edits team arrived...Since they have only three people, we thought we'll give them a different task. 3 feet, 1 elbow and 2 hands...

We really pity them cause they realli went to a wrong location and wasted a lot time time and money. Yan Ling and I were so tempted to tell them the location to the next station. When they finally figured out, we told them the bus number to take and how to get there...They suspected they were the last team to arrive there. We made sure they leave first before we packed up and leave the place. In the end, Yunwei they all turned back and decided to give up the race too. Cause they felt it's pointless since they will not get any prizes even if they win so they thought might as well go for lunch now. So we left together with them. They wanted to take photos first of the place. So all of us went to the memorial at the stairs there and took a picture together. Suddenlt a Mecedes came and there was a couple in it. And suddenly two young boys appeared so we got them to help us take a group photo.

We decided to head to Bukit Timah Hawker Centre to eat Fried Carrot Cake. We walked from Bukit Batok Reserve to Bukit Timah Hawker Centre. We dropped by a petrol kiosk to relieve ourselves. I need to relieve myself badly. It was quite a long walk. And my sole was starting to hurt cause I was wearing shoes and my sole was soaked badly and I had blisters on my heels too. We joked, laughed and chatted along the way. Damn fun...We were saying next year Yan Ling and I would wanna participate cause it seemed fun and next year we would give the juniors to plan it out this time. We were supposed to be at Fort Canning at 6pm. After having Fried Carrot Cake and Sugar Cane juice, we went to Suntec together to pick up Joanne's car and we'll all head to Fort Canning. She was driving a Tuscani so the four of us had to squeeze at the back seat. Kok Kiong sat in the front seat cause he was rather big sized. Then we all realised she just had her licence two months ago and she did not put on the P plate...Our lives were at her hands but her driving was okay. We cracked a lot of stupid and hilarious jokes on the bus. Joanne mentioned a lot of Indian jokes continously. We were laughing quite loudly and non-stop on the bus on the way to Suntec and we knew we caught a lot of attention...

When we reached Fort Canning, it was already after 7pm. And we wetn up to BattleBox and met the first team to reach there was Prototypes. We ran up the staircase with them and saw the Finish point held there. Vivien, Adrian, Jane was already there. Adrian gave us a green light sticks to form an aisle outside the entrance of Fort Canning gate. We started telling ghost stories and mentioned what we hear and saw in the morning. And we started telling stories. A lot of Singapore Polytechnic ghost stories...The next team arrived was Untitled and the next was Bao Chia. The other two teams haven't arrived even after Yunwei and I left, they were still not back yet at 8+. They bought some food like fish cake, chicken wings and spring rolls for us. But there was not enough to pass around for everyone to eat so I only managed to eat one spring roll. Yunwei had to leave earlier cause she had curfew at 10pm so I left together with her. Joanne drove us to the nearest MRT station, Kok Kiong and Yan Ling accompanied her. Yiyao wanted to tag along too but we told him we had no more space in the car so we took a last shot together at the Finish banner before we left.

The RMIT Bash 2005 - Pageant

The pageant officially started with an opening dance segment from UOL's DreamWerkz...





The emcees, Agasha and Van joined in the dance...They went in the rehearsals to learn the dances specially for this pageant...

Each of us had to drag someone up of the opposite sex to walk catwalk together...


I had to ask Zaky to help me cause I couldn't find anyone I knew...

Next it was the guy's turn to come out. They were just asked to come out and dance alone...
