Initiation Day 2006

Initiation Day 18-19th Feb 2006

I went for Initiation Day on Sat. The meeting point was in SIM. We were told to go to our groups. I was in Adrian's group. Every group had to be led by Group IC who were from the SR dept. Initiation Day was planned by Student Relations. Jacqueline and Michelle was my group's IC. We were Group A - the Yellow team. My group members were Adrian, Jooe, Fel, Joanne, Kelvin, Johnny, Weijie and myself. Weijie still came despite of his sprained ankle as a result from the sports day on Thursday. We started off the game, Who Dares Wins from school. It was already 2.45pm when we started off. This game is like The Amazing Race where we were to complete 10 out of 15 tasks within an hour at one location. There are 5 locations in all before the Final Destination. Before we set off, we took a group photo. Our first clue was given and it was China Square. We took some cash, handphone, pen, tissue EZ link card and left our bags in the Atrium to load on Robin's van. We took a bus down to Clementi and took a train to Raffles Place. Most of us had to top up our EZ links first. I only brought $32 and used $20 to top up the EZ link card.

When we reached China Square, our first set of Task List to complete is given from the starting time of 3.39pm. We had to choose 10 tasks to complete out of the 15 tasks given. We need to take photo of every task completed as evidence to gain our points. One of the tasks was to gather 10 different handphones,

find a stranger and talk to him/her as if he/she was your long lost friend, get 2 girls/guys to touch each other's tongue (Joanne and Fel did it), drink "Lei Cha", find 5 different nuts,

negotiate price of a newspaper with the vendor and find 5 different empty mineral bottles. I had to be the one that is carried by a Malay stranger cause I was the smallest size among the girls. China Square had not much people around on a Sat afternoon too. Our next location clue was given and it was Esplanade. We ran from China Square Central to Esplanade. When we were about to reach Fullerton Hotel, it was already starting to rain heavier and heavier. We walked from Fullerton Hotel across to One Fullerton. We took pictures in the underpass along to One Fullerton.

On the travellators...
We had to run on the long bridge to Esplanade from The Merlion there. It was pouring heavily that time. We were drenched when we reached Esplanade. And my slippers kept dropping off along the way. I had deliberately wore the halter neck top and brought a cap to protect my face from the sun once again and to get some even sun on my upper shoulders and arms but in the end, I used the cap to shelter from the rain instead. We got our next set of tasks at Esplanade. The tasks we chosen were to form a human pyramid, wrap one person like a mummy with toilet paper, find 5 oranges and make it into orange juice, find a foreigner and get that person to say 5 local food, find 5 couples and get them to kiss,

This couple was very compatible, the girl is good looking and the guy is cute and good looking too. The guy even asked for this photo by leaving his email with us to send the photo over...find a school boy/girl to do 10 cute poses/shots, get a girl/boy's email, name, contact number, take a photo with the Merlion, act like a statue and hold there for 1 minute and I forgot what was the last task we chose to do but we gave up the task where we were to find 5 people with ipod. I paid for the oranges at Harry's Bar. It was $2 for an orange and I paid $10.50 for 10 oranges. This Initiation Day games really costs us a lot. We were completely broke and penniless at the end of the day and had no money to go home.

Our next clue to the location was SunTec City. We ran from CityLink Mall to Suntec. Weijie could not catch up with us so the ICs excused Weijie first while we can carry out the task at Suntec without him. Our 10 tasks were to find a man with a bluetooth, find 5 guys wearing soccer jerseys, finish an ice-kachang in 3 minutes, find 5 burger wrappers, walk around the Fountain of Wealth 3 times and pose for a picture (as it was not the opening time for people to walk into the Fountain of Wealth, we were made to run round the basement which is around the fountain, all of us except Weijie who is excused) , find 20 bubble tea straws, find 10 red chillies and 10 green chillies, find a guy to wear heels and parade around,

find 10 used sushi containers and I forgot what was the last task we chose but we did not complete the bluetooth task and chilli task and we were already out of time. We were starving so we bought the sushi and ate and Fel had blister on her feet. So we decided to do the penalty and go to the next location. It was already 6+ that time. The penalty was to find a card from our wallet or purse and hold it on our cheek with another person's cheek for the whole group and one group IC must participate.

We were already slowing down cause we know we are sort of falling behind time with the other teams and our next location was Bugis Junction. Our task was to collect 10 bubble tea pearls, stand in front of Mac and ask a person to point out where Mac is (damn lame I know but Weijie did the job by acting retarded and asked a man for directions), collect 20 different postcards,

We are not able to find the postcards but I recalled the cinema outside had a stand for those movie postcards so I was telling them but we only found 2...

We went to the magazine stand at basement...

collect 10 5-cent coins and 5 1-cent coins, get a person with 5 body piercings,

We were looking for someone with body piercings so we went to 77th Street but in the end, to no avail but there was this mannequin outside 77th Street standing arms at her hips with mouth open, so Adrian did the same expression and Michelle took a shot with him in this expression.

We were supposed to take s hot together with her...find 5 ear sticks, get 5 pencil leads, get 5 different painted nails (this task Joanne, Fel, Jooe and me went into Seiyu to use the sample nail polish of different colours to paint one of our nails together with Michelle's already painted nails), find a couple and get them to french kiss (we swop this task to another-get a girl to try on the largest bra size and I was the only girl who did it! I sacrificed a lot but in the end still lost and it was to wear it with your clothes on of course but I won't show this ugly and embarrassed pic of course) , collect 5 different tissue wrappers and the last task I forgot what we had chose to do. But we forgo the last location and did the penalty for City Hall at Bugis instead. The penalty was to find a sewage cover and the whole group was to be on top of it with one group IC participating in it.

Standing on top of a sewage cover as the penalty...We were given the location to the Final Destination and it was Aloha Changi cause Adrian already knew about the place. The clue given was tricky but we knew we were already the last team so we took our own sweet time. There was only one winner.

We took 3 separate cabs from Pasir Ris to Aloha Changi. The first team had 600 points (full marks) and completed in 6 hrs plus minutes hich was the given time. But the prizes were notepads and the other teams also had consolation prizes which were smaller notepads. The BBQ food was rather miserable so we did not had much food to eat. Then few of us started playing this game where we will come up with a different forfeit everytime then we'll come out fingers then the total numbers of fingers will be counted and we'll count the number of people till that number called out and that person will do the forfeit. We everytime brought in crowd and a few more people will join in too. Then the winners of the whole race will be announced abd the losing team too. So our team were the losers, the forfeit was to pass honey from one cheek to another on both cheeks. Then the next forfeit was to sit on each other's thighs in a circle supporting one another with a finer sticking into our nostrils and sing a song together. We let Weijie be excused from the 2nd forfeit. There are pictures taken from Adrian's and others like Yunwei. I'll try to get the photos from them and upload them up here. Will be funny....

After we finished the forfeit, we went into the hall for an evaluation and introduction session. The different depts will introduced their depts and their appreciation to people who have helped. Then we were divided into separate rooms according to our depts for a get-together and introduction session. We were to introduce ourselves and then the head will talk about what events is about the upcoming events. Then we had our own free time. Some went down to 7-11 and the Ex-Co had some meeting and ordered Mac delivery. Then the rest of us had drinking and gambling session and Yunwei, myself and a few others who were loitering outside started taking photos...At about 3-4+am, I went to 7-11 and Cheers with Justin, Joanne, Lydia, Andrew and Jeremy to buy drinks and poker cards. We had initially wanted to play bluff but in the end, we went over to the other room to saw Lina, James, Weijie, Weirong, Teck, Eileen, Fel, Jennifer playing Indian Poker and forfeit so Justin, Joanne, Matilda and Andrew joined in while Lydia, Jereme and Wee Keong decided to sleep in the other room. I changed into another top. Then at first, I did not lose. But in the whole game, I only forfeited about three times only. First time was with Lina to eat potatio chips outh to mouth together touching each other's lips, next was after a long time where I was to bite on James ear and consecutively I lost the next round and was to lick onto Teck's ear. Lina, Wee Keong, Teck,Jeremy and me left at 6am. We shared a cab home except Teck who in the end went to his gf's house at Tampines. I reached home at about 7am and bathed and ate breakfast and got ready to go to church. I was teaching that day so I gotta go to church no matter what. I felt so sleepy when teaching the kids. I even had bible study after church which I cannot really kept my eyes open in class. I slept on the train to my grandma's house. I slept for about 2hrs+ at my grand parent's bedroom. Took leave today to rest and gotta work onTues and halfday on Wed.
