Experiences...

I am down with flu just on Friday night till today. My nose is still blocked and stuffed. Anyway, Friday morning I saw the flood incident at Novena MRT for those who have read the newspapers on Saturday. My friend had msg me about it at 8.25am about the flood at MRT. I at first did not expect it was that bad. I reached Novena MRT at 8.45am and the flood there wasn't that bad as seen in the papers the next day. But I saw a lot of China Construction workers helping to drain out the rainwater and checking the underground. There was a MRT staff holding an umbrella at the stairway as it was dripping water from the top. The escalators and elevators were temp unavailable as they were afraid of getting people electrocuted. The flood extended all the way till the station control and till the tunnel to United Square. Even after work, the escalators was still unavailable. It was a pretty scary incident if I was there earlier. I would have to fold up my jeans and all. My sis msg me on Friday asking me if I was interested to act as extra as an office girl in a Ch 5 series, Chase 2 on Sat. Pay rate is $80 from 11.30am-2.30pm. They needed 4 female extras for the scene. So I took up the challenge and role. I never thought that I would be an extra in a drama series especially like Ch 5. It is by an external production company but gonna be aired on Mediacorp Ch 5. Look out for Chase 2 - Episode 7...

My sis called her another friend to go together since the hours are ratehr short and the pay is good. My sis was a part-time actress. She was an extra for 2 Chinese dramas on Ch 8 and the cameo appearances weren't as long as this Chase 2. We had our own make-up and wore in our formal office wear clothes and went to Bukit Merah's McDonald's to have our early lunch. It was breakfast meal at that time still. We went over to Bukit Merah Hawker Centre at 11.30am and we did not see any of the crew there. We only met the crew at about 12.15pm. When we went over to join the crew while they were setting up the camera, Joanne Peh came over to greet us. We introduced ourselves to her. We were introduced to the director too. The director and the crew are all ncie people and friendly. She was very easy-going and friendly. She was going to act with us. The other actor was Max (MTV VJ). Joanne Peh looks same as who we see on screen. Had thick make-up on and I'm sure she loved yellow especially that yellow top. Saw her wore that yellow razor-back top a few times on certain shows. She sat at same table with us and she started talking to us about what we are gonna act with her about and her itchy arms that she was scratching. She was rather amicable and had no airs. There was this huge crow who appeared behind us. My sis was so frightened of it. Then Joanne said that she heard pple said that crows are scared of yellow, and so she could scare it away cause she was wearing yellow. Guess that she was merely joking with us. While Joanne Peh was reading her English story book, the other extra came and thought that she was Jeanette Aw. She said it rather aloud enough that Joanne Peh heard it . Then the director called her to the other table to discuss her role again. The producer, Rachelle came over to tell us our script.

We are supposed to act as four office girls who had booked the table for lunch using tissue papers. This idea is from real life when during office hours especially in CBD or town areas like Raffles Place and Tanjong Pagar. It so happened that April (Joanne Peh) and Dennis (Max) who did not know about this sat down and almost had his bite when we are supposed to tell them that this is our table. My sister's friend acts as Lady 1, "Excuse me, this is our table." We are supposed to act a little fierce and pissed off cause pple are occupying our seats. Then my sis acts as Lady 2 replies Dennis, "We already booked it, See? We put our tissues here means this table is ours" when he says, "I don't see your name on it." Then Dennis will ask April, "Can they do that?" And April says, "I'm afraid so." And he says, "This is ridiculous!" and he walks away angrily with April after him leaving their unfinished food behind. Then we'll sit on the seats and mumble to ourselves how ignorant and terrible they are. Just these few lines at this scene took us almost 10 takes. One nice shot has to be taken at few angles - solo close-ups of Joanne and Max, the whole scene that shows everyone or the person talking and the extras appearance. Filming is really not easy, acting is even more not easy. But it's quite fun overall. The takes were not NG takes but just some are dry-run, try-outs and we had to NG due to the overpowering onlookers who recognised Joanne Peh and who are aroused cause pple are filming there, were accidentally shown in the camera. The actors knew their lines well. Max just forgot to mention one of the lines. Other than that, the shots were perfect. The director was rather perfectionist too. He made sure that no one happens to appear in the camera.

Then we were told to wear a different top. My sis and I had jackets so I wore my jacket while my sis borrowed the shawl her friend had. And Kelly and her friend (forgot her name..oops! Sorry!) had an extra top so they changed into it. Joanne and Max also changed their top. The next scene was we were having looking for a table and whilst looking, we recognised April who was alone at that time waiting for Dennis to come back, we looked at her hoping to let her give up the seats for us where we were holding our food. April immediately took two tissue boxes and placed it one beside her and the other opp her and said, "Chop!" (in a rather singlish way) After director said cut, she just laughed cause she just felt the way she said was funny. The way I told everyone was funny too. They understood the plot and why she did that. Anyway, it was a lifetime experience for me in acting in front of a television. I hope my friends won't recognise me out. I mean I will only tell my close friends about it to watch. I think I will look awful on TV. I dun think I'm telegenic cause i'm not photogenic at all....

Despite my flu and itchy throat again, I went to my grandparent's house after that to have dinner then go to Indoor Stadium to watch JJ Lin's Concert with my Auntie Linda. I can't think of anyone who actually really listens to his song except her. My sis had helped me won the tickets. I actually paid $4 (downloading his two songs in order to qualify for the draw) for it okie but for two $68 tickets for such concert. It was worth it. Really great concert. Best I ever watched. Not even Sammi Cheng's concert have I loved and enjoyed as much as this. The seats weren't that bad. It was on the upper side level but my sis got the better seats situated on the outer part for me which was nearer to the stage. I borrowed my dad's Nikon binoculars anyway. The concert started at ard 9pm only. At 8.30pm, there was this dance teacher from Taiwan, Lan Bo 蓝波 (a famous choreographer for Jolin, Amei who choreographs JJ Lin's concert's dances this time) actually came out to entertain the awaiting audiences with learning some hand movements of his song 就是我 so that we can do it together with him when he sings that song. JJ started off with the first song, 木乃伊 then 编号89757. He had quite of number of songs with dance steps in it. He even had guest stars like Kym Jin Sha 金沙 and sang a duet with him, 被风吹过的夏天 (the song he wrote for her). Then JJ even played piano while singing other's songs like Cyndi Wang's 当你, the song he wrote for her and also Amei's 记得, he even had us to sing together with him.

Then he sang a few of the songs of the persons who has made an inpact in his singing career. He call them as his 恩人 (benefactors) & 恩师 (teachers) like 方文山 so he sang Jay Chou's 安静, Wang Lee Hom's 唯一, Michael Jackson's Heal the World & Ah Du's I Do (the song he wrote for Ah Du). Ah Du even came out to sing together with him. While he's changing, Ah Du sang two songs. JJ's encore was 曹操 as expected then Saeranghaeyo 只对你说 (You can hear this song from the background music playing on my blog) and he ended the concert with his last song, 江南. Had so many chinese characters here...
