It's been exactly a week since my Dinner & Dance. And I have been busy with work ever since. I had to clear off my usual work from last week cause 2 days before the event, I had to concentrate on Dinner & Dance. Finally it's over. My feelings are: I would rather sit and enjoy the dinner and programme than being in the committee. It was tedious and I haven't ate much throughout the event. Only tried the 1st two dishes: Cold dish and shark's fins. Then I had to be outside mending the prizes booth. Not much photos taken from my camera and others. Most are taken from official photographer. A lot of people doesn't seemed happy with the lucky draw prizes this year. We are not able to get a lot of good sponsors this year. Last year was good cause of World Bank, most contractors and suppliers sponsored us.

Nothing much to describe about the event. But there were hiccups and all last minute on the day before with the prizes and on the day itself with the photographer. I had to go to office first as I still have unfinished things to do with the prizes part for the D & D then we left office at around 11.15am to head to Intercontinental Hotel to meet up with the Deputy Chairman and the committees doing production and stage setup. We then checked into our complimentary room then head to Food Junction for lunch. We then went for a briefing on the programme for the night then helped set out the tables with the rose petals we bought from FarEastFlora.com then did a little of rehearsals before heading back to the room for our makeover. I got my friend, Hana School of Skin and Make Up to do the hair and make up for the ladies. There were three girls. I was one of the last few who did the make up.

After my makeover, I had fake eyelashes on and my eyes had two to three colours on it. Looks so weird, my first time wearing fake eyelashes, felt so uncomfortable initially. My make up artist said cause I'm a Ge-ge so must make up like that.


In my costume, my Ge-ge costume isn't the nicest and glamourous one so this is more of a simpler design where the Ge-ge could be at home.

We all went downstairs, it was already 6.15pm and some staff from Pico were already there. I went into the ballroom and the waiters there were like looking at me with a weird and funny look. We have to mend the reception just to make sure the guests know where they'll be sitting at.

Pico Riveria is a French name where we name our very own theatre name as if our Pico staff are watching a musical from Pico as well as they are the cast themselves...


The entrance where the guests will be entering at...The doors will open then there will be stairs for the guests to enter up the stage and projection will show the Phantom of the Opera together playing the tracks from this musical as the opening musical theme.

My team in Hairspray costumes...If I were not in the committee, I would have also bought a retro dress like the girls here and some of the guys here too and we get to keep it after that. We have $50 budget to buy the clothes. And they always come with toys as props...

And then the second musical came, Chicago and three lady dancers from ShowBiz (our entertainment company) performed to Chicago music then the surprise came...the Forbidden City music played...Actually the music was taken from The Last Emperor OST. We had to use this cause our Deputy Chairman wanted to give our procession a more grand and effective one...

Indeed it is effective...we had to walk like how the ancient people sued to walk. Small steps and swayed hands holding hanky one one side. The official guards is in front, then followed by the Empress Cixi then the Imperial Judges behind her followed by the princesses and the maids escorting. We never have expected we are able to do it in the end. We were laughing thruout during the rehearsals then on the actual thing, the headlights on us were far too bright and we couldn't see the reaction on people's face due to the complete darkness except on us. But I felt that people will laugh when they saw us.

Then there was the Best Dressed awards segment and I had to present the prizes to the presenter...

And the Best Dressed Team goes to...

Design Studio team as 881...They deserved the $200 Popular vouchers as they were carrying a 881 poster which I thought was the original movie poster, but it was actually an edited poster of them with their names and faces on it. Excellent job!!! They made the props like Papaya and Durian and one of the guys acting as Qi Yu Wu did a paper rooster...

Then towards the end, we had a photo without the full committee in it too...

After the event, we cleared up the ballroom and it was already 12am. Our boss treated us to KTV as usual and we went to Marina KBox, we had more fun last year as I was less tired and dead beat. The committees were hungry and very tired including myself so we did not have an after programme. I guessed Yong Hwee could have been one of the people who brought the fun and laughter last year. Hopefully, I'lls till get to attend next year's Dinner & Dance as an attendee.
