I reached NUH this morning at 8am. there wasn't much people at the Emergency Walk-In centre. I was to wait for a doctor. I paid upfront $80. Everything was about waiting. Around 20 mins later, I went into the consultation room and she asked me questions. Then she brought me to another room where she need to apply orange liquid on my eyes and check through the slim lamp (dunno how it was spelt exactly). Then she said she will need to refer me to an eye specialist as she feel that this is indeed an eye infection of perhaps an ulcer. So I went outside and waited for the referral. I waited till 9.30am before I was brought to the Clinic E aka Eye Clinic. There were a lot of patients there. I went for the eye check routine again then they realised that I have went thru that earlier. So I waited for the doctor to call on me.

Then I went in to this female doctor, Dr. Young. She asked me the same questions and then did the same check with the orange solution and everything and she diagnosed that I have ulcer infection which is considered serious. Certain patients may have to admit into hospital so as to have full attention from the nurses. I'll have to apply antibiotics into the infected eye every hour. So that includes when I'm sleeping too. I'll have to return tomorrow morning again to check if there are any improvements. Then she said she'll need to take some samples to be sure that it is not fungal infection. So she told me to wait outside for half an hour after applying some solution to ensure my eyes can open bigger. But I waited for more than 30 mins for sure before she called me in again. And there was the needles to be scrap from my eye. She had to do 4 times from different angles of the infected area. I thought it was scary but she said it wasn't painful. In fact, I did not feel anything when the needle went on my iris. She gave me some anaestasia to drop on my eyes in case it's painful. After that I felt uncomfortable.

I went outside and waited for a long time before my mum went in to check out how long we have tow ait. Then she said the documents have already been brought out for payment. Then we waited again for around 15 mins then i went back in and checked. Then she looked for the nurse she had instructed to bring out my papers and she realised she had forgotten to bring it out. She apologised by saying Sorry after I was about to leave. The consultation charges was $73.50. Then I went to the Pharmacy and waited for the medicine. The medicine was $34. I spent in total $187.50 in total. Good thing I asked HRD I am able to claim for my outpatient expenses as long as I have the referral letter from the panel of clinics. So if tomorrow I have shown improvement, I think I'll recover fast and will need to apply eye drops just every 2 hrs. She did suggested I stop wearing contacts for 2 weeks to a month.

Well, my advice to all is those contact lens wearers like myself. I have learnt a lesson. Eyes are an important part. So we must really take care of it. I will still wear contacts but I will use the proper methods of taking care of contacts lens. I must wash my hands properly with soap before handling the contacts, wash the contacts thoroughly before and after wearing. So those who read my blog here, you must listen to my advice here and don't end up like me. We mustn't be lazy or slip-shod if we choose to wear contacts.
