I came upon this restaurant in 1-Utama in Petaling Jaya area. The exterior of the restaurant really caught my eye. The decor was filled with fig vine plants. We decided to enter this restaurant and have our late lunch there. The Gardens is the name of the restaurant. I would say the restaurant decor and concept is really nice. Really fits the Garden theme. If a wedding were to be held here will be nice. But as for the food, I wouldn't say it's that nice. The waiters there are all Indians and the restaurant is patronised by mostly youngsters having tea break or lunch there.

After you enter the restaurant, you'll see this huge classic piano greeting you into the restaurant...



The cashier near the entrance and the friendly indian staff greeting each customer. All the staff there were Indians...


They had all these display items fitted for garden decoration and they are for sale...



The whole restaurant including the aisle leading to the entrance (you gotta walk along this aisle and you can find some seats and tables at the side too) had the whole area decorated to fit the whole theme of the restaurant and they were filled with this fig vines with butterflies and flowers on this vine hanging down from the ceiling wall...

It's so nicely decorated that it can be made as a wedding venue and the bride and groom can make a grand wedding entrance thru this door...


What is nice is their menu...the photos in it looked so tempting and delicious and the design of the menu and layout fits to the whole concept of the theme of Garden idea.



I had initially wanted to order the fruit flavoured tea as the photos in the menu all looked like they have real slices of fruits in the drink (which reminds me of the drinks at Tao's Dining) but they said all the tea were out of stock today. Too bad, I had to go with Iced Honey Lemon...

Cream of Mushroom Soup...I'll give this a 4.5 star rating. (Out of 5 stars)

Chicken Sandwich...Someone ordered this at my table so I just shot the dish

Pineapple Fried Rice....A 2.5 stars (It was cold and the taste is bland, perhaps no lard inside that's why. Anyway it wasn't me who ordered this.)

I had wanted Spaghetti Vongole (which consists of clams in pesto sauce and bacon bits) but they say they ran out of sauce for today so I changed my order to this Aglio Olio (prawns in aglio olio sauce) without chilli flakes. Unfortunately it came with chilli flakes in it, so we requested to change it without chilli. I took this shot with chilli flakes in it...The aglio olio already looks a little watery than the usual aglio olio which was supposed to be dry and just cooked with olive oil. Taste without the chilli was okay I would say. But the colour of the watery substance turned from orange to yellow. Then I realised the yellow liquid like is actually cooking oil. They prob ably cooked it in normal oil instead of olive oil so it was super oily. They seemed to have poured lots of oil in it to cook leaving the excess oil in this look. I diddn't finish the whole plate cause the spaghetti was just too greasy. New York New York taste far better. Rating: 3 stars out of 5 stars

The drinks came and here my iced Honey Lemon beside my iced water...It was too sweet. I had to pour some water into the drink in the end...Rating: 3.5 stars (Could have been better if it weren't too sweet)

Last but not least, finally my dad's order of Nasi Lemak came and he said the rice is cold but the chicken rendang is nice. He will give it a 3.5 stars overall.

If you want to have a place to drink during CNY, it's definitely opened that is provided if you are in KL-Petaling Jaya. For food, perhaps try going for their western food and sandwiches and that is surely to be safe cause I see many other youngsters order these two types...

Food: *** (Try going for western food like sandwiches or fish and chips kind, thumbs up for their soup though, it's the wild mushroom cream soup)
Beverage: **** (Try going for their flavoured fruit tea, maybe it's better or their coffee)
Price: ***** (It's pretty reasonable in ringgit but if you convert it in SGD, it's so much cheaper. You can consider it as dollar-to-dollar. E.g. RM 11.90 = S$5+ whereas in New York New York or a normal cheap western restaurant, a pasta will cost S$12.90 here in SG)
